Seminário LabSis de 26/11

   

    Quinta-feira, dia 26/11, às 16h30, no auditório do Módulo REUNI do Departamento de Geofísica, acontece o décimo segundo seminário do LabSis, do ciclo de 2015. O palestrante será o professor Dr. Germán A. Prieto  (Massachusetts Institute of Technology - MIT).

Título:  

Investigating possible mechanisms of intermediate-depth and deep earthquakes using tele seismic and regional records.

Resumo:

Deep earthquakes represent about 25% of the global earthquake catalog. Despite their abundance, the physical mechanism behind their rupture is poorly understood. I will present a number of studies at global and local scales that try to constrain the mechanisms based on seismological observables of the dynamics of earthquake ruptures. Some examples include events around the world, some in south america and a recent earthquake in Hindu-Kush.
